Running for Days

Happy Monday, you weekend warriors!

I seriously enjoyed this weekend not because it was lazy, but because I got things done. I was so productive and accomplished much of what was on my growing To Do list. I guess the hurry up and get work done week carried over into the weekend. I'm not even mad.

Let's start with how things looked running-wise, since I spent nearly 4 hours at it -

  • Saturday 8:45 am - 10 Miles

  • Saturday 3pm - 5 Miles with Dan

  • Sunday 12:30pm - 5 Miles

I know you're thinking two-a-days on Saturday is a little overkill, but it was much needed after the prior 6 days of only logging three speed-work miles. My mind needs those long runs to hash out thoughts, ideas, rants and creativity. To make everything better, the weather was clear and sun even poked through the clouds! Sure I'm a little sore, but Dan is the best at working out the kinks and I'm looking forward to a full day of standing at my desk today.

The remainder of Saturday was delightful as I was able to read the 148 blogs that were lingering from the week, enjoy two extra entertainingly competitive NCAA men's games, and spend the afternoon with a weary and overworked Dan.

For the evening he was invited to a Timber's game, so I made the most of my evening as a bachelorette and enjoyed brews in bed.

I think I know which one I would have enjoyed more!

Sunday was just as wonderful with ultimately not waking up until noon. Agenda included a quick rain-on / rain-off run, Dan and I went to Costco to grab lunch samples our weekend food prep staples and knocked out some quality meal prep to be shared later this week. I was impressed by how quickly and easily Dan jumped in to help out and was thankful because it cut down on the normal time by half. Salmon burgers, chicken, quinoa, veggies, you name it - they're all there and neatly tucked away in tupperware containers on the second shelf of the fridge.

Extra exciting was getting a visit from mom and dad last night with an invite to dinner at one of our favorites - Original Taco House!

This morning was rough getting ready for another early 6am work start especially since Dan was sleeping soundly with no plans of waking until 10am. At least he's promised to have dinner ready and on the table for me every night this week!

Friday Fun

You'll be happy to know that I got to show up to work at a normal time today.

Normal time meaning after sunrise, after hearing birds chirping - even after clipping some beautiful flowers out of my yard for a desk arrangement!

I am so glad to wrap up this week. I feel like everything has been a complete rush and feel bad that the first two weeks of my new co-workers jobs have been stressful, pressured and tied to strict deadlines. They have done such a great job and I really have them to thank for feeling so good about today and the opportunity as a team going forward. It pays to have a great work dynamic and  I couldn't be more excited about the coming months.

Dan has work off starting Monday the 8th through the 15th (Tax day!) so as you can imagine I'm pretty excited for him and looking forward to a great weekend together and having a stress free boyfriend to come home to next week. Hopefully also dinner to come home to, but that's a different story!

The plus side of being so busy lately... everything is NEW to me on Pinterest! So tie up your pony and spiky-o-saurus and click these links!

Throwback Thursday: Waking Up

This is a post that I think Dan will like.

It's Thursday and oh boy am-I-tired. This week has been full of back to back alarms blaring between the early why me times of 4:15 to 4:30. Even though I can operate well on low sleep during the workweek and find myself enjoying waking early on weekends to get my runs out of the way - physically getting out of bed is a different story.

I've always been a hard sleeper and have been known to stay in bed a little later that I should when I need to put my feet on the floor and run out the door.

Having Dan to sleep next to has been really helpful (on most days) because where I can lay there ignoring my alarms going off back to back, he always does his best to get me out of bed using one of the following fail-proof methods:

- A kick
- A nudge
- Shine his Fuelband LED time display in my face
- Turn the clapper nightlights on
- Ask if I'm still getting up
- Bribe me with the thought of grabbing a latte on the way into work
- Pass gas in my general direction
- A grunt

He likes to mix it up and I appreciate that about him.

Here's a look at my alarms today - and on average I my feet didn't hit the floor until 4:40. Sorry I'm not sorry

As you can imagine, getting up later than planned means re-working my normal routine - like doing my make-up at work because I'm still there 90 minutes before expecting to see another body, taking a shorter shower (read: #dirtyhair) and thanking my past self for already packing all of my breakfasts and lunches for the week. It also means low level of creativity on my outfits - win some, lose some!

Needless to say, I thank the creators of dry shampoo for helping to remove the visible greasiness of my tresses. I especially thank the fashion/blogging/style world for encouraging and popularizing messy hairstyles, braids, re-curling old curls - Especially for showing us how to rat your mane into a perfect sock bun. How did women ever get by? Rollers?

This Throwback Thursday is brought to you by a little girl who lived #dirtyhairdon'tcare before hashtags were even a thing:
