Warrior

If you've been following my blog from the start, you'd know that I'm no stranger to muddy and crazy athletic events.

Almost a year ago, my 2011 Hood to Coast team decided that we wanted to participate in another event together - namely the 2012 Warrior Dash in Oregon! Only half of us ended up making it out for the event on Sunday, but we had an awesome time approaching the race with no pressure for time or pace - just for laughs and messy fun!

Our start time was 10:30am, meaning that a few groups had already gone before us to get the course really slippery and worn down. This makes things arguably more dangerous, but we all stuck together and looked out for one another - but also pointed and laughed where pointing and laughter was due.

Initially I didn't take the race too seriously as I have completed Tough Mudder (10-12 Miles) and the Warrior Dash is only 3.11 Miles with lower grade difficulty obstacles. The obstacles proved challenging for many, but it was the steep hills throughout the course that can wear you out. Especially when you unfortunately start at the back of your heat and get bottlenecked on obstacles, hills and mud pits.

It was difficult for spectators to follow much of the course, but here are a few photos that our good friend Rowe captured before, during and after the race!
