Inspired Confessions

I could have come to you today with the boring and #basic confessions like "agh! I already bought two bags of Easter jelly beans!" or "I didn't even want to go out last night for St. Patrick's day, and also because I don't have friends".

Those are fun confessions, but predictable.

Rather, all of my confessions today are inspired by articles I saw on Thought Catalog yesterday. I am not this clever or creative myself, but can at least link you back to the article that inspired the confession. Are we okay with that? Cool!

Make sure you're linking up with Melissa when you join the party!

:: Last week I confessed that I joined and dropped a dating website/app that just wasn't for me. I can confess that is wasn't MissTravel, which is apparently a website that allows the "Generous" and the "Attractive" to find each other and travel together. One has the money and means to do it, but nobody to travel with. One has great looks and I'm assuming no job? (article here)

:: Never have I ever cleaned a makeup brush. I've cleaned paint brushes and hair brushes, but never makeup. That's possibly because I buy from Target's Elf collection and if they get gross or broken or tired, I go buy another for $2.99 and spend another $50 on things I desperately don't need. Shame me, please. (article here)

:: My real-life dating disasters have included a former wrestler who just wanted to put me in wrestling holds without wanting anything else, a guy that perspired the entire time during our dinner date... yet never ordered food and another guy who got a second date but decided that we were "getting too serious" because we held hands in a theater and I texted to make sure he got home safely? Sure there's more but that was enough for today. (article here)

:: My favorite holiday of all isn't actually a "holiday". It's April Fools! The meanest thing I have ever done was to stage a fake breakup with a former boyfriend, getting upset over something I was actually upset over, but taking it way overboard. I took what I could from his house, swore that I would come back and get the rest 'another day' and while I was out I went to a coffee shop for a few hours to read the Hunger Games in peace. That's how long ago this was. I've realized more recently that games like this aren't appropriate 'April Fools' territory. However, some of these are fun. (article here)

Okay, that was fun. Also oddly very "dating" related.

What are you confessing today??

Making Melissa

sometimes i wonder how i would fare if i were single again. in my dating day, there weren't online apps for that; you either went to a bar/club and found someone, met someone through a friend or met someone randomly. speed dating wasn't really a thing either so you basically relied on your social circle to meet people and if someone vouched for that person, you had more of an open mind when you met. at times i thought that was hard but when i hear all the horror stories about online dates via apps, that is really scary!

Dating is simultaneously the best and worst thing in the world.

Online dating is a trap, but it's so fun. Not because I go out and meet great people and fall in love or ANYTHING remotely close to that.

But because boys are dumb and provide me with free entertainment.

um, i wish i had discovered misstravel before i got married. haha joking. kind of.
i have cleaned my makeup brushes like twice in my lifetime. i love elf brushes but i bought some fancy-ish brushes recently so i suppose i should clean them. but if it aint broke / making me break out, eh?
he never ordered food? that is unacceptable! food is life!

I'm so bad at cleaning my makeup brushes. I'm really good at cleaning in general but when it comes to my makeup brushes I'm not. I so need to get better.

OMG yes, I've never cleaned a makeup brush either!!! haha love it. have you heard of the dating app bumble (my friend started it who actually helped create tinder) and it's pretty sweet!

Misstravel sounds really intriguing... I can almost guarantee my 20 year old self would have been into it haha. Alas I had to go the old fashioned way and save up and travel on my own dollar :P

Yea I don't clean my makeup brushes either...oops

Target is such a death trap. I had to stop yesterday to buy something and even though I gave up shopping for lent, I proceeded to look through all the clothes and drool over everything I wanted! So easy to just drop $50 without a second thought.

I seriously think God ensured I met my husband really young because I would be the WORST at dating. Does anyone else feel like the travel app is just a smidge away from a mail order bride, but backwards?

I also don't clean makeup brushes...because I don't have them. I'm so bad at being a girl in many ways.

I'm so shocked to hear some dating blunders. Headlocks? Really? My friend had a guy pull a Christian Grey-esque move on her. Sooooo creepy!

Ohhh dating stories are always fun!!! I did a post on some of my interesting experiences back in the day.... http://www.lifebynadinelynn.com/tales-of-online-dating/

I used to be really bad about cleaning my brushes but have gotten much better over the last two years! It is quite a chore though...

OH MY GOD I had heard of Miss Travel a few years ago on some radio show and I remember being a very unsettling combination of floored, disgusted, and intrigued. #IConfess. Also, your "too serious" dude reminds me of the one who, after two weeks, wanted me to move to his hour-away town when my last lease was up in a few weeks. Dating is the best.

Please give us more dating stories! You seem to have the best ones, haha! I also don't clean makeup brushes - I think I've only done that twice! I'm an ELF girl too and just buy a new brush if I really need it.

I had never heard of Miss Travel before but that is seriously hilarious hahaha. Also your dating stories crack me up. I once dated a professional cricketer and after your wrestling story I feel like I need to tell that story hahah.

As for makeup brushes ... Im terrible at cleaning them. Terrible.
