Throwback Thursday: She Works Hard for the Money

So, what did you have for breakfast today?

Just kidding, I know that you chose something healthy, that you had a lots of protein, and you have water like it was your day job. Or like it was healthy or something?

No, today's not about breakfast. Today is about working hard for the money, so hard for the money.

and for some reason I thought this song was about a certain profession? Wrong.

I've been hard at work since I can remember, even when earning green and stock options weren't part of the equation.

School, Little League fundraisers, softball, getting my brother in trouble - you name it!

Never though has my tenacity been more of an asset for me than it has in the last seven months of my job.

I wouldn't have any success without the support and encouragement from so many wonderful people around me, but I also wouldn't be able to put up with half of what comes my way if I wasn't a bit greedy when it comes to accepting a challenge.

Some may call it type A they're right while others admire my no-pain no-gain attitude.

Every day the bar gets set a little higher, the grind gets a little thicker...and I secretly love it.

The thrill comes from the confidence people have in my work, the opportunity to flex my creative muscles and the exposure to people who know how to shake things up.

The difficult part is 12 hour work days, pressure to maximize my free time and less social time with real life friends and family who I adore.

But remember, it's all about reframing your point of view isn't it?

Today's Throwback Thursday has been brought to you by a little girl who knows what it means to work hard and keeps her head down to do the job right.

Cuteness. I know what you mean about working hard but getting satisfaction from pushing yourself! I’ve recently started a new job with longer hours and more pressure (but way more interesting things) than my old one, but I’ve been wanting more personal time, too, so it’s been pretty stressful. Still trying to find that work/life balance!! I’m sure I can do it somehow...
I had eggs scrambled with bacon ends/pieces and spinach for breakfast this morning, BTW! Plus some great coffee and coconut milk. ;)

New jobs are always a crazy time where you put in that extra grind and it definitely feels good to accomplish something new and challenging. Amazing breakfast, better than mine!! I'm jealous.

If man friend gets his act together I could do that too. For now it's looking like he'll be the stay @ home papa (with a kitten and a betta)

Go get it! I much prefer an easier life, but then I realize it's all about framing- what constitutes easy to me is hard work for others. I work a lot harder than I give myself credit for. As long as you're proud of the work you do, you've won!

Trust me, I'd rather blog and bake for a living - but if I'm given a job I'm going to do it right. Winners all around! :)

I'm right there with you! If it's a responsibility of mine...it's going to be quickly and efficiently. I love your attitude towards work. One of the things my hubs grew up know what "I can do hard things." We are instilling that in our kids now. Hard work rocks! Good luck on work-life balance...it can be tricky. Oh, and my breakfast was lacking - a banana and nuts.

I understand working hard, but sometimes I feel a bit irritated at seeing others "hardly working" or just enough to get by- but I try to remind myself while some people care about a career, others see that as a way to pay for their real life outside of work. I definitely see it more on the west coast which is when I became aware of a larger population not working hard for the money

Boo for people who don't put in the hard work - they lose in my book! Interesting observation about west coasters!

I've been the worst of all time with work-life balance! You've got it so down, especially with the kiddos and your workouts. I can't wait till I feel that well about the use of my time! Happy weekend :)
