A Lipstick Review + Selfie Bomb

I think I want to become a beauty blogger, you guys. I've been thinking about it for a while now and I know you haven't seen anything beauty related from me, I'd like to take this leap of faith here and now. Go ahead and unfollow if looking fabulous isn't your jam, I'll understand.

Also, April Fools! But seriously, enjoy this lipstick review post, I promise I'll remain entertaining and informative.

There's three types of women in my book:

Women who can wear lipstick.
Women who can't.
annnnnd women who think they can.

I've personally never known which category I fall into, yet I still have no fear in wearing lipstick.

Whether I'm headed into an important meeting at work or I'm leaving my house for a date, I often spray a bit of perfume and swipe a little color onto my lips. It draws attention to my smile, which is one of my favorite features, and gives me a little boost of confidence that I'm not always able to explain.

In all seriousness, this post is a dream for me because I'm allowed to take as many shameless selfies for the purposes of the "review". You know how much I love selfies, don't you?

Let's take a walk through the selfie-vom below.

So I received a VoxBox from Influenster for testing purposes, and it's my civic duty to blog about it. The lipstick that me and a few other lucky testers received is Rimmel's Moisture Renew in the "dazzling duchess collection". Fancy aren't we?

When I opened the box I saw a color brighter than I'd ever seen before, and was honestly a bit intimidated. I wasn't sure if conservative touch-of-pink me could go all out with "As You Want Victoria". But alas, I did it for my country and I'm here to show you guys.

This is my face without lipstick on, giving my best "oh yes this eye-liner is all natural" gaze.

Ah, here's the scary part! I decided to blot it onto my bottom lip only, just to sample the color and use it almost as a stain rather than a coat of lipstick. Dab, dab, dab, pucker-up, smooth those lips together and finish off the stain with your finger to make sure you didn't miss any places.

Success! Now it's time to take all the selfies with all of the awkward faces until I get one I like. When I don't get one that I absolutely love, I post a sampling of all the magic that went on my camera roll to mask how awkward this all really was. I'm a natural.

In all seriousness, I loved how long the color stayed on my lips and I did notice the moisturizing benefits as the name 'moisture renew' suggests. I likely wouldn't have chosen this bold of a color off the shelf, but now that I've tried it the sky's the limit, right?

Here's one last look at the first time I tried it on for date night. While it's beautiful, I think I liked the blotting method I applied above better don't you? {Hey red dress I originally bought for another boy!}

So what do you guys think? Lipstick is sexy as long as it doesn't cause MLA, right?

i'm not really a lippie girl but that was becasue i didn't find the right formula. most lippies makes my lips feel strange after and hour and by strange, it feels like i'm wearing tape on my lips!

as for bright color, they really are a game-changer. i'm a subdued type of person but i went out and bought a bright red and i love wearing it when the time calls for it.

i like that color on you! you're hot. not weird i said that.

bahahahahaha love that little jab about dress you bought for another guy ;-) From what I can tell it looks hot! Girl trying to take makeup selfies.....rough....I mean I think it took like 20 pics of me looking like a serial killer to get one that looked good. The first 10 I had Mark try and then he gave up then by luck I got I believe like one. Mascara ones are the worst! Sorry for that ramble. That color looks so pretty on you!

you rock that color! I hate the way I look in lipstick, I typically stick to the gloss.

That colour really suits you! I'm not much of a lipstick girl because I'm OCD and whenever I wear lipstick I'm only wondering if it's smudged off or is on my teeth.

Bahaha! First and foremost: thank you for bringing "MLA" into my life! I will now start putting it into my vocab rotation.
You look GREAT with this color!!!!

I think you are totally pulling the lipstick look off!! I love wearing lipstick when I'm not wearing heavy eye makeup - if I'm heavy on the eyes I go light on the lips!! :) Love it on you!

That color looks great on you! I usually only wear lipstick if there's an occasion, I'm more of a gloss girl on the regular.

You make it work! One of my coworkers always has lipstick on her teeth. I think it has now become one of my biggest fears when it comes to work faux pas!

You look great with the lipstick and red dress! I've just started getting into lipstick and it's been life changing. I love how you can wear less makeup when you're rocking a bright lip. I'm all about less work when it comes to getting ready!

work it girl!
i'd actually want to see you wear a red lip..i think that would look eve better on you!

That looks so great on you! I think I'm a fourth type: women who wish they could wear lipstick. I have several fun colors but whenever I wear them they look way less awesome than they do in my head. A good moisturizing lipstick could be the ticket though...

I think everyone can and should wear lipstick. OWN IT.

Huffinton Post recently posted an article about how men don't like women who wear lipstick - such BS. I have been meaning to write a rebuttal. You might be my inspiration.

I just got Sephora's "color of the year" -- Radiant Orchid. It's similar to yours. I'm obsessed with it.

K I'm done now.

1) I think I am one of those women who just doesn't look good in lipstick OR doesn't know how to wear it. I always feel super drag queenish in lip stick.
2) You are gorgeous! And are definitely in the category of women who can wear lipstick.
3) I busted out laughing at the MLA reference. I love The League and that episode was hilarious!
